European Youth Olympic Festival finished in Baku

XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival finished in Baku today in a festive way. The Festival will remain in memories for long time with Azerbaijan proving once again its excellence in organising high-end international event. This was clear from the expressions of the specialists, media representatives as well as athletes and other guests who visited Baku during the games. 

Closing ceremony became a great conclusion of this bright event. Just like Opening Ceremony, the event was held at Baku Crystal Hall. 
Guest were greeted first and National Anthem of Azerbaijan was played. 

Volunteers brought national flags of competing countries. The flags were brought in alphabetic order with exception of Greece – home of the Olympic games and host Azerbaijan. 
‘Baku 2019’ Summer EYOF highlights were screened afterwards. 

This was succeeded by speeches from head of Organising Committee of XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival and first deputy of prime minister of Azerbaijan Republic Yaqub Eyyubov and vice president of European Olympic Committees Niels Nygaard. 

In his speech, Mr. Yaqubov noted that Azerbaijan is famous for hosting big international sport events and thanked president of National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for helping realise ‘Baku 2019’. He expressed his confidence in that the athletes competing in ‘Baku 2019’ will one day win European and Olympic games and will make everyone who was responsible for ‘Baku 2019’ proud of the fact that these athletes achieved their first victories in Azerbaijan. 

Mr. Nygaard mentioned that Baku Festival is a huge experience for these athletes and a big sport holiday for them. He also expressed his belief in future victories of ‘Baku 2019’ athletes. Then he expressed his gratitude towards volunteers. 

After official speeches ended, International Olympic Committee flag as well as flag of European Olympic Committees were brought under Olympic anthem. 

Flag of European Olympic Committees was handed to Jan Nosko, mayor of Banska Bystrica – 2012 XVI Summer European Youth Olympic Festival city. National flag of Slovakia was raised afterwards under national anthem of Slovakia. 

Jan Nosko mentioned famous people and athletes from Banska Bystrica in his speech and welcomed everyone to the next host city. Promotional video was screened afterwards. 

Finally, XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival flame was turned down. Creative block of the Closing Ceremony started afterwards. 

Creative block included performances by local pop artists Aliya Aliyeva and Kamran Aliyev, Fidan Huseynova, Lyaman Dadashova, Emiliya Yaqubova, DJ Kanan and 2011 Eurovision Song Contest winner Eldar Qasimov.
