The Italian company MicroPlus Informatica has been named as the official sponsor and timing and scoring supplier of the XV Summer European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) ‘Baku 2019’.
The agreement was signed with MicroPlus on May 30, 2019, meaning MicroPlus will provide results, timing and scoring services during the Festival.
Microplus Informatica has the vast experience in the field of results, timing and scoring. Under the contract they will also provide the equipment required for the RTS services distribution, software system compliant with the rules and regulations of the European Federations, as well as personnel to run this service at EYOF ‘Baku 2019’ competition venues.
"We are pleased to have signed this agreement with MicroPlus,” said the Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov. “The main selection criterion for us was the supplier’s multi-sport multi-venue experience in the field of results, timing and scoring as well as their access to the most reliable RTS equipment that can properly and accurately capture the results of all competitions. Only the best timekeeping companies with relevant international experience can play such an important role during top level multi-sport events."
MicroPlus was established in 2000 and has been providing services at major sporting events ever since, including the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in Azerbaijan.
The EYOF will feature 7 days of competition in 10 sports such as artistic gymnastics, athletics, basketball, cycling, handball, judo, swimming, tennis, volleyball, wrestling, which will be staged in 12 competition venues, all of which are already existing, making this edition of the EYOF also one of the most sustainable. Wrestling will join the programme for the first time in the EYOF history.
Over 3,600 athletes and team officials are expected to take part in EYOF ‘Baku 2019’, assisted by 2,500 volunteers.
